- Saved from decay 35 years ago by Villa Palagione Centro interculturale .

BAL FOLK
Laboratorio musicale a Villa Palagione
(13-17 ottobre 2025).

Questo laboratorio musicale faceva parte di un progetto di mobilità Erasmus+ presso la Volkshochschule Frankfurt, con i docenti Thorsten Dreher e Tillmann Teuscher.
È stato molto divertente, con attività che includevano prove collettive, esibizioni in ensemble e creazione musicale creativa. Abbiamo imparato la musica popolare tradizionale europea e le pratiche di danza popolare, ci siamo esibiti insieme al gruppo di musica popolare toscana Quadriglia Val di Cecina, abbiamo promosso la diversità, l'inclusione e la collaborazione in Europa attraverso la musica e l'arte e abbiamo sperimentato Villa Palagione come Centro Europeo per la Cultura e la Comunicazione (EBZ), che rafforza la comprensione europea attraverso lo scambio creativo.

Villa Palagione Centro Interculturale will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2026.
The anniversary celebration at Villa Palagione will take place on October 31, 2026.
     
  Was it chance, luck, or destiny when we, a group of German-Italian friends, discovered and acquired the dilapidated ruins of Villa Palagione in the spring of 1986? This fascinating place immediately captivated us. From the very beginning, our vision was to renovate Villa Palagione as an educational center and fill it with new cultural life. Over the years, Villa Palagione has developed into a cultural and educational center integrated into the region: a place for encounters, study, creativity, and activity, but also for relaxation and enjoyment.



A humane Europe requires understanding and knowledge of people and countries, their cultures and histories, as well as linguistic and communicative competence. The intercultural encounters and mutual learning that this entails are important steps toward the acceptance of other cultures.



  Villa Palagione is striving to find innovative ways to overcome the European "speechlessness" and support the process of communication: as a contribution to peaceful and cultured coexistence. Many of our guests and friends feel connected to us and Villa Palagione. They appreciate our commitment to educational work and support us in a variety of ways.



The 40th anniversary year in 2026 naturally calls for a celebration. Throughout the year, various events are being held. For example, on March 14, 2026, our friends from the Rhineland hosted the Palagione Festival at the St. Dionysius Parish Hall in Cologne. There were culinary specialties brought fresh from Tuscany, a small exhibition of art created in Volterra, short presentations and lectures relating to the Villa's educational programs, music for listening, singing along, and dancing, as well as a raffle with special surprise prizes...

L’EVOLUZIONE DELL’ ARCHITETTURA ORGANICA DI FRANK LLOYD WRIGHT

During our "winter break" from January to the
end of March, young craftsmen from the
Stuttgart region have been coming to Volterra
for a three-month professional
internship for 25 years now. The successful
EU project is under the
leadership of the Stuttgart Region Chamber
of Crafts. The Italian project partners
are the city of Volterra, the GIAN Nature
Friends and Villa Palagione, which also acts
as project coordinator. The participants
live in the Il Vile Nature Friends House, learn
the Italian language in Villa Palagione and
deepen their knowledge of the host country
through intercultural encounters and excursions.
From February onwards they will then work in companies in Volterra and help with the
renovation of historic buildings.
